Equine Massage

  ____________________________________________________________________________________________________  _____________________________________________________________________________________________________

With over fifty years experience with horses and beginning my equine massage work in 2002, I am still grateful for the time I get to spend with these awesome creatures.

In many horses, physical pain is at the root of behavior and performance problems, and chances are good that at least some of that pain is muscular. Equine therapeutic massage is not just a nice rubdown. It is a scientific method of locating and treating muscle tension and spasms.

Even one massage can yield important information and remarkable results. Your horse will definitely feel better. A customized program of therapeutic massage, executed over time (whether weeks or months) will improve your horse's performance and your partnership with your horse so that your success as a team is enhanced.

Benefits:

• Improves circulation, thereby speeding healing of injuries.
• Improves range of motion and enhances muscle tone and flexibility.
• Relieves tension and chronic stress-related pain.
• Increases production of synovial fluid and reduces inflammation and swelling in the joints.
• Stimulates circulation in the lymphatic system and hastens the elimination of toxins.
• Lengthens connective tissue and so breaks down/prevents the formation of adhesions and reduces the danger of fibrosis.
• Improves disposition.

Equine massage rates:  Full-body massage, approximately one hour:  $85.00

Travel fees may apply.

Beginner Equine Massage Workshops

Knowing and applying therapeutic massage techniques will enhance your relationship with your horse, reduce his risk of injury, and improve training.  A quick but thorough pre-ride assessment, followed by skilled attention to any problem areas will strengthen your horse's trust in you and his willingness as your partner.  Two-day intensive workshop covers basic pain assessment, calming acupressure points, and full-body massage sequence. The workshop is divided into (4) two-hour sessions, each one focusing on a different part of the body.

Also offering workshops on Hot Stone Techniques, a Dancing Horse exclusive.
